Acoustic Guitars
“Once you start playing, you never want to put it down.”

These instruments are shaped by my years of studying voicing under Ervin Somogyi, and by the belief that a guitar should feel as alive in your hands as it sounds in your ears. Every one is personally hand-voiced, tuned until it speaks with its own clear, resonant voice.
Comfort matters just as much as tone. That’s why I often incorporate features like the Manzer wedge, which makes a full-bodied guitar feel smaller without sacrificing depth, and the Laskin armrest, which eases long playing sessions. Details like these aren’t add-ons—they’re part of how the guitar becomes an extension of the player.
I keep my output small, not because exclusivity sells, but because this kind of work takes time. Each guitar is built for the person who will connect with it deeply—someone who will play it for decades and pass it on.

Hand-Voiced Masterpieces by Singaporean Luthier Hozen
Meet Hozen—a Singaporean luthier trained under Ervin Somogyi, building hand-voiced guitars with unmatched tone, playability, and ergonomics. Guided by the belief that life is short and each guitar should be built as if it were his last, Hozen crafts instruments that are as inspiring to play as they are to behold.

“I started building because I couldn’t afford the guitar I wanted. Now I build so others don’t have to make that same choice.”

From 2012 to 2021, I personally voiced every single Maestro guitar, hundreds of them, refining my understanding of tone and responsiveness one soundboard at a time.
In my search to master the craft, I travelled to the USA to study with Ervin Somogyi, one of the most respected names in modern guitar making. His mentorship changed the way I approached building—not just focusing on precision and structure, but on listening to the wood, coaxing out its best voice, and shaping each guitar until it truly sang.
The pandemic was a turning point. It made me think about how little time we really have, and how much of it I wanted to spend making guitars that carried my name and vision. In 2022, I stepped away from the demands of Maestro to focus on Hozen Guitars—where I could work without compromise, building each instrument as if it were my last.
That dedication means sacrifices. I spend half the year in Guangzhou, away from my home and family in Singapore, working alongside my small team to bring these instruments to life. It’s not easy, but it’s worth it. Each guitar leaves the workshop carrying my voice, my hands, and my commitment to the player who will make it their own.
