  • Known for their sculptural forms and ergonomic feel, each Sankey guitar is a one-of-a-kind instrument shaped by instinct, not blueprints.

Blending historical craftsmanship with modern innovation—like 3D printing and CAD modelling—Sankey’s approach is as spontaneous as it is intentional. His builds aren’t designed so much as discovered, guided by the natural dialogue between materials, tools, and intuition.

At the core of every Sankey Guitar is a simple philosophy: build with honesty, follow curiosity, and trust that the right player will feel the connection. These are guitars for those who seek more than sound—they seek soul.

  • With a background in fine art and a mind drawn to both the technical and the intuitive, Mike has spent more than 25 years exploring what happens when tradition is respected—but not obeyed.

His path to luthiery wasn’t linear. It was shaped by curiosity, detours, and a persistent desire to build something meaningful with his hands. Mike doesn’t see himself as a designer. He rarely sketches. He doesn’t follow templates. Instead, he listens—to the material, to his instincts, and to the quiet conversation between form and function. That willingness to trust the process has become a hallmark of both his personality and his guitars.

Though he’s become known for instruments with futuristic curves and experimental features, Mike is grounded in the fundamentals of playability, tone, and honest craftsmanship. He’s as interested in how a guitar feels in someone’s hands as he is in how it looks under the lights.

Mike Sankey builds not for the market, but for the individual—for those who appreciate that creativity often lives where convention ends.
