In Creation Story: Psari Gold Leaf, Montreal-based luthier William Parent Senez offers an intimate look into the philosophy and process behind the Psari — a sculptural electric guitar crafted from spruce and finished with gold leaf.
Rejecting the idea of the electric guitar as a purely manufactured object, Senez explores form, material, and light to push the instrument into the realm of functional art. Each guitar is conceived as a unique piece — an imprint in time where tradition, innovation, and personal expression converge.

After graduating, William founded Senez Guitars, determined to move beyond the acoustic tradition toward a new expression in electric guitar making — one shaped by architecture, sculpture, and decorative art. His 2021 creation, the Psari, embodies this philosophy, merging Art Nouveau influences with daring, contemporary form.
William continually expands his technical repertoire, studying silverwork at L’École de joaillerie de Montréal and gold-leaf gilding with Marie-France Kech — the latter leading to his nomination as a finalist for the Prix François-Houdé (2023). His approach celebrates materials as artistic collaborators, each informing the evolving identity of his instruments.
Recognized by curator Jamie Gale and invited to exhibit with the Boutique Guitar Showcase at NAMM 2025, William Parent Senez represents a new generation of makers redefining what the guitar can be: a canvas for craftsmanship, creativity, and sound.
